We are extremely happy to announce the return of China Drum to the live stage following 12+ years’ hiatus. They will be performing songs from their 1st two albums (as China Drum and not The Drum)
They released 3 albums of the finest, energetic, bouncy and very melodic punk rock in the 90’s, before deciding to focus on family life in 2001
China Drum were once proclaimed by Radio One DJ Steve Lomacq to be “the best band in Britain” and he still plays their songs on BBC Radio 6 every so often John Peel was also an admirer and especially of their cover of Kate Bush’ “Wuthering Heights“ http://youtu.be/OBviQXfuu3c
At their peak, they played at Reading Festival and had successful UK and European tours with Green Day, Supergrass and Ash.
Since the emergence of social media over the past 7-8 years, it is very evident that China Drum made their mark on many in the Uk, Holland and Germany, where they have a big following.
Their gigs where notably energetic, with some being played live on Radio One’s peak time show “The Evening Sessions” presented by Jo Whiley and Steve Lomacq.
Vanilla Pod were formed in 1995 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk In 1997 they released they're first full album "Trigger" and have since released a further 4 full length albums concluded with the release of "Poets on Payday" on Boss Tuneage Records in 2009. In 2003 Vanilla Pod released possibly their most critically acclaimed album "Surrounded By Idiots" which received great exposure, reviews and Radio play not just in the UK, and Europe but was also had it's own full release in Japan on Pyropit Records.
Having completed a full UK tour in 2012 supporting Snuff, they are now writing their 6th full length album and plan to return overseas to Europe to tour again in 2013.
Midway Still have been around since 1990 and were mostly seen in the UK and Europe supporting the likes of Nirvana and Green Day. They played what can simply be described as British early 90's punk rock at its best. They resumed recording in 2010 and this year released their 4th album "Always Ends".
This and their gig at The Tar of Kings in London on 1st March will act as warm up gigs before they go on a 2 week tour of Japan.
